When I was 15, I was gifted a little Canon point and shoot camera. I carried that thing EVERYWHERE with me, usually taking "abstract" photos. At some point I discoved the self timer on the camera and that's where it all started. It was fun, it was new.
Years later, self portraits for me now are an escape. When I feel I'm lacking inspiration and creativity, I can always snap back with some self portraits. As much as I love intereacting with people & clients when photographing them, there is something so calming when it's just me and my camera & that self timer.
"I paint self-portraits because I am so often alone, because I am the person I know best.”
